Flag Day in Mystic and across the country is June 14. Flags are set all across downtown Mystic and on the Liberty Pole.
The Endowment Fund was established to finance the replacement of Mystic’s Liberty Pole, which has stood proudly for 150 years. In 2012, the wooden pole was replaced for the fourth time with a new fiberglass pole that would fare better in the elements. The MFC raised $80K to fund this endeavor.
The Endowment Fund is as important to the Mystic Flag Committee as the Operating Fund if another replacement is warranted.
Did you know that the costs of maintaining our flags are not paid for with tax dollars? The Mystic Flag Committee is a 100% donation-based organization with an operating budget of approximately $9,000 per year.
We appreciate your support in helping us cover repairs to the Liberty Pole from accidents and weather damage, keep insurance and inspections up to date, refresh our street flags when needed, and with ongoing care of Liberty Pole Square. Any amount is welcome and appreciated – $25, $50, $100 or more – and is 100% tax deductible.
